My Opinion On Stuff

...because you need it. Admit it to yourself, Long Time Readers, the reason you read my shit is because I give a no-holds-barred opinion and may even be quick to tell you to go to hell if you disagree with my opinion.

The lack of "Hate Mail" I get really discourages me from writing anything controversial because I just don't stir the pot as well as Diaryland Legends 1, 2, 3.

[Disclaimer the above numbers do not denote any sort of order just in case I hurt someone's feelings. Not mentioning any names, Bawb.]

Anyway, I actually had a complete day off from work and I was sitting here READING other people's diaries.

So because I love to procrastinate (Vague Reference to the Questions/Answer thing) here's my opinion about the following...

ABORTION?

My opinion on this subject is instantly MOOT because I'm of the male gender of a our species. Having said that. Abortion is a terrible decision for anyone. It's definitely shouldn't be used a birth control option. Every situation is circumstantial to therefore to have a blanket opinion on it would be wholly wrong.

DEATH PENALTY?

I have to say I'm FOR the Death Penalty. Although it needs to be applied to those crimes that are extra-incredibly extenuous. Unfortunately, I grew up in the time that, child molester/killer, Clifford Olsen was free and walking the streets. Way too many children died and the guy continues to live on (in liveable conditions) while he cut short the lives of so many with potential. I know this seems barbaric to say two wrong make a right. I'm not saying it makes it right but it bothers me that the man continues to live. I wasn't even directly affected by the deaths. How do THEY feel?

God, Don't get me started on how rights of the perpetrator are higher than the rights of the victims.

PROSTITUTION?

It's actually Legal here in Canada to be a Prositute. It's illegal however to soliciate for the purpose of prositution. Although, We need to completely legalize it then regulate it. I am not sure that would stop the underground market as it were.

ALCOHOL?

I'm all for social drinking. I have a bottle of rum (pointing back into the kitchen) which I've rarely had a drink from since I bought it. I enjoy a good drink every once in awhile. It's the stupid people who don't know how to slow down or stop that cause the problems.

Stupid People cause all the problems. It's the reason we have Darwin Awards.

MARIJUANA?

I'd say legalize it but I fear that this underground economy already sees massive profits on the government levels that you'll never see the stuff legalized. Of course, What do I know? I think the government would probably like to catch up to the rest of the Tom, Dick, and Janes who would start up a marijuana supply business the day it became legal. Which makes me wonder about the real purpose behind our Government Funding "selected" Farmers to grow pot on thier farms to supply "Medicinal" Pot.

Other Drugs?

I would assume we are talking about non-perscription drugs. They're are so many drugs out their now it's actually comical that any of it is illegal because we have no control on their use or distribution at all because it really is everywhere. I find it odd the smaller the town the easier it is to find hard drug use and abuse. You'd think it would be a big city problem but I see it as a more of an rural problem.

As for Perscription Drugs. Multi-Billion Dollar Market. Could it be corrupt? Do Bears shit in the woods?

GAY MARRIAGE

Who cares?! What about fuckin' Heterosexual Marriage? I don't care who wants to get married. I do care about who wants to get divorced. It's like a fucking epedemic. There should be some sort of fucking fine for getting divorced. Sort of like a stupid tax.

I just had an idea. Maybe we could have a graduated marriage licence. If you want to get married you can move in together and have to put a BIG RED "L" on your front door. So Everyone knows your Newleywed in Training.

After a certain time period in the "L" stage you would be granted an ACTUAL marriage licence. You now get to take your "L" down and put up a BRIGHT SHINY "N" on your door. That way we all know you've supposedly passed some form of test that say "This couple is capable of living together and managing life."

After another arbitrary amount of time you'll be allowed to take your "N" down and join the ranks of the married couple. It would also be at this point that society would allow you to pro-create. If you pro-create before this point you'd be saddled with massive fines that were applied to the social welfare programs. If I have to explain the WHY here to you, nevermind, you'll never understand anyway.

Also by this point if you haven't failed the Graduate Marital Licence program you'll probably have so little sex with your partner that neither of you would want to pro-create. Of course, if your Gay (That was the original question) there's no fear of this, it's the adoption route.

ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION?

I have to say I agree with most of what I've read about this. Our country was formed by a bunch of Immigrants. Unfortunately we're so many generations removed from those people that we've evolved into people with their heads up their asses.

SMOKING

I've probably mentioned this before. Actually, I know I have. I am probably one of the MOST PRO-SMOKER non-smoker around. We're happy to tell people how much freedom they can have and yet we don't give people the right to smoke wherever the hell they want. I find smoker's to be the MOST polite type of people. Always concerned about smoking in front of me. (Long before they banned it everywhere) It's the whiny fuckin' non-smoker's who think they can smell it across a fuckin' room. I smell your crotch across the room too you don't hear me complaining that you need to go outside.

CLONING?

Wow, Talk about something that needs controls. On the surface this could have MANY Pros. The problem is the Cons are just evil. Humanity in general has proven over and over and over we have NO ABILITY WHATSOEVER to play God. Essentially, That's what we'd be doing not to mention I thought we were over populated already.

If you don't think some group somewhere would try and clone/create a "Super Race". You are SADLY SADLY SADLY mistaken.

Sidenote: That's the strange/cool thing about science fiction writing so much of it eventually comes to reality because if someone can think of the concept then eventually technology will allow us to do it.

RACISM?

See note regarding the inability to play God. We can't even get along with people who are slightly different than the next.

PRE-MARITAL SEX?

Hey, This is part of our natural make up. It's our own society that's try to control this whole concept via marriage. Perhaps for good reasons at one time. [See Tirade on Graduate Marriage Licences Above.].

RELIGON?

See Racism because this concept/idea only cultivates the hate along with racism. Not to mention there possibly could be two paths to the same destination. That perhaps someone else's beliefs might have just as much meaning to that person as their own personal beliefs. OH MY GOD(tm)! Someone thinks DIFFERENT than I do! Kill Them! Kill Them Now! Jihad!

Of course, it was amusing to read/watch the American reaction to our more liberal ideas here in Canada coming to fruition as one of our former leaders left office. Happy Birthday, GWB, How's about some Gay Marriage? and a No to your Missle Defense!

Which, completely unrelated, reminds me I was thinking Canadians should have a yearly "March of 1812". Where thousands of Canadians March from the Canadian Border down to Washington DC and have a Festival on the White House lawn with a big commematrive bonfire fueled by a bunch of little wooden white house's. Then we all go home.

DOWNLOADING MUSIC?

It may one day be something that is completely above board meaning you can pay for it. Although, Where's your proof of purchase once your computer dies.

On the other side of the coin, Music will always be available free somewhere. Those that are effected by this don't want to hear anything about "Fair Use".

PORN?

Yeah, Ba-aby, Yeah! You wouldn't be reading this on the incredibly huge internet if it wasn't for Porn. It was single largest market on the internet for many years.

I agree all adults and no animals and pretty much it's all fair game. What do I care if my neighbour Susan likes to watch Girls Pee on Each Other?

SUICIDE?

It's a terrible thing. I know that as a teenager I wanted to do more about teenage suicides because I had those feelings growing up. Life sucks but we all get through those stretches if we push ourselves past the crap.

I've recently been affected by someone's decision to commit suicide and I can't tell you how terrible the baggage the person leaves you with is. Strange thing even though I can understand the motives to wanting to end everything it still doesn't make it any easier for the living.
