2003-03-26 - 11:39 a.m. Cha-Ching A few of you have commented in the past as to why I would bother to gamble when I work within the industry. The fact I see how many losers there are compared to winners. It's because I enjoy it. When I got off work Monday. The Chick and a friend of hers had come to play bingo. She asked me whether "We were going to bingo." Being as it was one of special priced nights I said ok. I don't tend to play bingo that much. While we were sitting there shooting the breeze waiting for the session to start. (There's about a 30 minute break between the day and night events) The Chick commented that she normally plays pulltabs but was on a limited budget so I got up and put $5 in the pull tab machine. I brought them back to the table and started to open them. Now, I open pulltabs in weird way. I open them slowly. If a window shows two of a kind (you need three) I stop and leave it for later. Well, this particular evening. I started throwing the two of kind ones at The Chick. She didn't really realize what I was doing. I even told her she wasn't lucky after the 3rd or 4th one. The very next one I tossed her was one of the $1 ones (read the prizes are quite nice) She opens it up and her eyes light up (three of a kind) and promptly flips the pulltab over to see how much it's worth. I already knew. $350 bux. Yes, $350 from $5 gambled. You wonder why this would be my form entertainment? I could have been frugal and held onto the money. But I spent most of it trying to win some of the big bingo pots. We were unsucessful in the bingo venture. The Chick, Her Friend, and I parted ways because since I had won such a nice little sum I had decided it gave me enough $$'s to head to the casino and play some Pai-Gow. Which is my current way I enjoy losing money when in a Casino. It's the cards, I love to look at the pretty cards. I took $60 of my money and made a concious decision that's all I was going to spend. At one point I actually got up from the table with an extra $40. But I wasn't ready to go home so I play some slots and was back at my original $60 in a few minutes. So I wandered back to the table. I played until closing and lost my $60 eventually. (I think I bet $40 on the very last hand, so it was my own fault) But I had fun. I had a night out. Technically I had a night out on $5. Even more technically I had a night out on someone else's money. I've still got $210 of the $350. So I am not whining and I'm not complaining.
