Hey! It's THAT guy!

Have I ever told you that I really don't watch a lot of television? I really am more of a movie goer. I am adaquetly versed in a number of actors and actresses that grace the silver screen but really I'm not so versed on those that star in television. Although, that's not ENTIRELY true.

Case in point : J0E SCHM0E 2.

I watched the first season of this one. Now, I thought they did a really good job the last time. They also picked a guy who I thought was "harmlessly nice" and basically geniune. Which made the show all that more appealing to watch. It was less about the "actors" playing other contestants.

The Sequel is well, less appealing. I think it's because I'm Canadian. If you're a Canadian and you watched the first episode you'll know exactly what I am talking about. You'd know it was a set up from the get go. Why? Well, Probably because you looked at the guy playing Gerald and say "Holy Shit! It's Jonathan Torrens!.

For those of you who are
A] Not Canadian
B] Too Lazy to Click the Link
and/or
C] Just expecting me to explain anyway, I'll explain anyway. [Bastards!]

I'm at an age where I actually remember Jon from one his first gigs "Street Cents" it was this teeny-bopper type show that was kinda of a pseudo consumer awareness show. I remember watching it from time to time and finding it interesting as far as Canadian shows go.

We're used to some pretty lame ass TV here in Canada. Nothing quite says "Quality Production" like reading "This has been a CBC Television Production" at the end of a show. Most of the time you probably slapped your forehead and went "Ahh, I wonder why it was so low budget and or cheesy."

Jon also had his own talk/variety/comedy (Actually I can't classify as I can't quite remember actually tuning in for very long) called "Jonovision". My point here for later reference is he's the "STAR" of this show and it ran for FIVE years. (1996-2001)

Too top things off for Jon. You could also find him playing a supporting role in some oddball show made in canada called "The Trailer Park Boys." I'm sure you've never heard of it. The seasons are only coming out on DVD while the thing is still broadcasting new espisode on SH0WCASE. He plays J-Rod, by the way, the white kid who thinks he's a black.

Which brings me back to my original point. He's playing a part on J0E fucking Schm0e 2. It's a real testament to how Americans really don't pay much attention to their neighbour to the north.

It makes me want to create a reality show in the same genrre only the entire fucking cast is Canadian and the one or two schmucks are American and they're all supposedly running for Prime Minister of Canada. You want to see some TV that gets ruled offensive worse than that Triumph the Insult Dog that made fun of Francophone Canadians. That show would be it.

Unfortunately, No such show. So were stuck with j0e shchm0e 2. I might continue watching more episodes only because as Matt Dillon so eloquently said in The Outsiders "Let's Do It for Johnny, Man, Do it for Johnny!"
