Missing

My sleep cycle these days is messed up. It's not a pretty thing. I'm not sure exactly what the problem is. I've fallen back into a rut that I haven't been in for probably close to a year or so. Really, I'm not sure exactly what the problem is.

I believe something is missing. I can't put my finger on it at the moment. You have to know there's a problem when I'm procrastinating everything around me like it's some piece of hot metal that if I touch it I'm going to give myself third degree burns that will leave scars forever.

Noticeable scars.

I'm not going to whine about anything. I'm just documenting. I'm admitting to myself (in writing) that I'm acknowledging I have a problem and I can't seem to get a grasp of it.

Sometimes when faced with a demon (problem, situation, crossroad...pick your own word, I prefer demon) in your life you have to take it by the horns and knee it in the face a few times til it goes down to the ground then grab it's ugly head and beat it into the pavement until it is dead, dead, DEAD.

I'm don't believe I'm quite at that stage right now but I believe I'm hearing the footsteps behind me as I walk down the dark alley of life and as they get closer I'm getting ready to drive in my heels turn around and say "Bring It On, MOFO!"

Normally, I don't like to make a negative observations about the things people say in their blogs/journals/diaries. Unfortunately, much like the english language has exceptions, I'm gonna make one.

Also normally, I enjoy reading Sparkler. One of the many talented writers I visit via Three Way Action but I must point out I've never read a more pompus pretenious load of crap as THIS.

As much as getting an education is important (and I would encourage any younger person still in the throughs of education to keep plodding along as long as they can.) by no means is an education the end all be all of getting a job/career/position. All they equate to are pieces of paper. Certain aspects of certain jobs require pieces of paper but I'll tell you my opinion in the arena of hiring potential employees I take actual work experience WAY more seriously than I do a piece of paper saying you know your job.

Don't get me wrong Spark's entitled to (I believe it's) her opinion but it was just the way it was brought across. I really think it may be a background thing. [I linked to Sparkler just incase she takes the time to follow her refers. Although I doubt it. My reason being I don't say stuff I wouldn't say to your face.]

My parents were working class. I left high school (albeit in the last month of grade 12) to do/persue something else in life and education wasn't really high on my priority list. Therefore, I worked my way up through the masses and took twice as long to get as far as some people who stayed in school did to get as far as I have thus far.

Of course, I don't have an HR department to sort resume for me so I get a chance to read them all. I, also, do my share of sifting out the rejects. Although, I'd say the cover letter sways me before I get to the resume. To Me, It's all in the presentation.

Anybody can be a bookworm. Anyone can apply themselves and get a certificate/degree/you name it and still not be any good at what they've studied. The same can be said for someone that works in an industry, is working their way up, trying to make the leap from one level to another.

Ya, Sometimes you can't wave a piece of paper in my face that says "Hey, I know this, this and THAT." Although you might be able to say I worked [HERE] and I was doing [THAT], [THAT], and [THIS] which I could easily translate to this, this, and THAT. Once again presentation not ceritification.

Of course, Spark's right. No matter how underqualified, qualified, or over-qualified you are there's no getting around the actual interview and a badly timed comment (especially in the direction of the interviewer) and you've lost your chance. Once again, It's all about the presentation.

I wonder if Sparkler realizes the guy she interviewed, although rude, was probably right. My experience is young up and comers are a lot cheaper or overpaid than their weathered, experienced peers. If that stings, it's cause the truth hurts. You can buy an education but you just can't go out and buy real-life experience.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

"Once I was a villain
I behaved just like a cat
But like a shot of penicillin
She cured me of all that
She's a healthy dose of heaven
For a man that's hooked on sin
Let the joy begin

Better get used to it, baby"
