We're Going To Hell

I know I had other thing to write about but today I came across a story

I just couldn't ignore.

These types of stories just stun me on many levels. I'll touch on two of the major ones.

One, The gun involved was an unregistered .45. We've got a contraversy going on in our government about the cost overruns of having all Canadians register their guns. Sad thing is Gun Registry wouldn't have helped in this situation. That's why I've always felt Gun Registration is a waste of time. It only hinders the law abiding people from owning guns for lawful purposes. That, of course, is a rant for another time and place.

Second, How completely an utterly tragic. The 6 year old boys life cut far too short and a 7 year old girl who will have to live the rest of her life with tragic memory all because of a stupid 22 year old.

You have to wonder what criminal activities a 22 year old is up to that needs to keep a loaded .45 in his bedroom. How fucking stupid do you have to be if you know your house has two small children in it? He probably doesn't even blame himself. He's probably blaming the 18 year old that was home "watching" the kids for letting them go in his bedroom.

The 22 yr old is facing a few charges and I hope they throw the book at his sorry ass. Now this may seem heartless on my part and there may be some bleeding hearts out there that say the families gone through enough and he'll have to live with what happpened as well. To this I say, This society needs to learn there are consequences for your actions. More and More I see the total disregard for others in our society. This society is selfish and has no regard for consequences for their actions (direct or indirect). You never have to look very far to see it. This situation is the very culmination of that way of thinking.

I see the roller coaster ride we are on. I hate to say it but we are all going to hell. It's only going to take a couple more generations (if that) and I believe we will destroy ourselves. There just not enough people in this world that actually want to stand up anymore and say enough is enough. We're busy giving Criminals Rights (even to Vote) and meanwhile stripping the average law abiding citizen of just about any right at all. It's enough to make one sick to their stomach.

I didn't know the 6 year old boy but today I mourn the loss of another human soul because we should all mourn the loss of the truely innocent.
